This is a brilliant opportunity for a capable accountant with strong business acumen to support the business and the owner through adding a level of commercial insight and accountability. Rob Mills Architects have invested in the latest software and the Commercial Manager should have a strong natural inclination to use technology, to inquire and develop productive suggestions. Deltek and Estate Master software experience would be highly regarded.
Experience in a professional services environment will be helpful and ideally CPA/CA qualifications. On the one hand a ‘hands-on’ role you will contribute to and support the Board.

The Role
Based in the head office in Prahran, you will be the go-to finance person and assist in key business decisions. You will be responsible for a variety of accounting duties including:
Reporting to the Director, you will be primarily involved in providing support to the Studio Manager in the financial aspects of the business and taking on the responsibility of the financial eco system of RMA:
- Financial management and the procurement of individual projects
- Manage Deltek, running all reports and analysing data to inform Practice Manager of the progress of new and existing projects
- Report weekly budgets, profits, losses to Practice Manager
- Preparation and analysis of monthly management reports tracking financial performance against budget and variance/operational analysis and commentary
- Project specific management financial reporting
- Cash Management: including preparation and maintenance of cashflow forecasting and all bank transaction interfaces such as statement reconciliation, processing of payroll, data entry, AP and AR
- Driving systems and process improvement within the business
- Strong management focus on meeting profit margin targets and gaining efficiencies
- Annual budget preparation and growth strategy planning documentation
- Board financial reporting and presentation
- Review future opportunities to determine feasibility
Financial Management of Projects (using Estate Master)
- Howqua Project - Creation of the off-the-grid Howqua fishing hut in the Alpine region of Australia
- Hampden Development - Liaise with the project manager regarding timing of costs and finance drawdowns, Monitor costs and compare to budget, attend to payment of invoices, Preparation of documentation monthly for finance drawdown
- Queen St Woollahra - Redevelopment of the RMA head office in Sydney
