“By working carefully with the site, the design offers a layered and light-filled residence that feels both protective at its base and expansive as it rises up to capture spectacular harbour views.”

Embedded into the steep hillside of one of Sydney’s most prestigious addresses, Bellevue Hill Residence is a multilevel family home shaped by both topography and outlook. The architecture steps back from the street and into the land, creating privacy and protection at the lower levels while opening upward to expansive views across Rose Bay and Sydney Harbour.
The design is organised across a series of layered levels that move naturally with the site's slope. A stone-clad base forms a grounded podium at street level, above which sculptural planes appear to hover, softened by planting and natural vegetation. Each level is carefully considered, from the arrival sequence and garage below, through to family bedrooms, recreation spaces and pool terraces, before culminating in elevated living areas and a private master suite with gardens wrapping the entire level. At the heart of the home, a circular staircase connects all levels, rising through the centre of the house beneath a skylight that draws daylight deep within.
Inspired by its nautical views, the architecture balances bold curves with clean lines, creating a sense of lightness and flow. Inside, integrated joinery, sculptural island benches, and a restrained palette of stone, timber and polished finishes support a refined yet relaxed style.
