“This house was designed to sit quietly within its setting, both protected and elevated by the environment that surrounds it.”
Rob Mills
Set above Vaucluse House and with panoramic views across the tree tops, this multilevel family home was conceived as a series of layered forms that rise gently through the site, creating a connection to the surrounding tree canopy.
The architecture unfolds vertically, beginning with a discreet lower-level entry, garage and workspace embedded into the slope. Above, the home opens outward and upward to integrate the building with the natural terrain. The upper level is carefully designed so that clients can move effortlessly from the rear garden, across the terrace, into the living area, and out onto the outdoor pool, suspended three storeys above the ground, creating the sensation of floating above the treetops.
Vaucluse Residence is a considered response to its site, where sculptural forms, natural materials and careful planning come together to create a home that feels calm, connected and deeply attuned to its landscape. Each level is wrapped with planting, terraces and gardens, softening the architecture and grounding it within its setting.
